You can get a Walmart / Walgreens GIFT CARD using a credit card, BUT you cannot get a generic VISA or AMERICAN EXPRESS prepaid credit card that way.
You may want to just buy something at 7-11 and get some cash back - do it again at the grocery store and a couple of other places over a few days. Then you will have a wad of untraceable cash to use.
For the future, look at getting a NETSPEND card - a nice refillable debit card.

Those one-time use Mastercards that they sell in the gift car area of stores... can I use on to order something online? What do I put in the name blank? Will it work if my name is not on the card?
YEp it should be just fine.

I've been hearing about credit cards that are offered by Visa which you pay X amount of money and that's your credit line...and you can throw away this card. I mean I think it's good because you can't get in trouble with them, right?
YOU SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER GETTING A REAL VISA CARD...if you have a bank account especially with BofA they will give you a credit card.....remember that once you establish a credit history (which is what you should be going for)...this will enable you to start building credit
Well i'm requesting a transcript for baruch college and I want to fax it in which requires a credit card to pay the 7 dollar fee.
Does american express have a disposable one time use credit card number that I can set up beforehand? Or does the Bank of America check card have this feature? I don't want my credit card number in plain sight. I know some credit card companies have this feature but i'm not sure about the ones that I use.
Don't they accept cash? And if its for a college, then you should be ok, but if you cant trush a college with your card info, then maybe you should look into a difforent school. You could just ask your mom for her credit card. But if your that worried about it, find a good credit monitoring service that will keep track of that for you. I know discover card just got one that monitors all 3 agencies for like $8 a month... and it look pretty clean...

Stazz's Stuff: Disposable Credit Card Numbers from Paypal
I am usually extremely conservative with financial products, but this article that I read on Lifehacker today really caught my interest. Apparently, they have a new service where you can generate a one-time-use credit card number to use on sites where you might not feel comfortable using your permanent card number. The payment comes from your Paypal account. All of this is facilitated by a browser plug-in (IE or FF2). I kind of like the idea behind this. I generally don't buy much online, except for big vendors, like Amazon. Something like this might make me more comfortable buying from a more diverse set of vendors. Of course, one would still have the basic concerns with unknown merchants (when...
