I'm developing a website for a jewelry company, and I was just wondering what would be the best way for me to integrate a credit card payment system? Preferably the cheapest method, as well, but money is not an issue. I know there are sites that would allow me to set up a cart system, basically, but I wanted to know what would be the best one. Whenever you reach a secure website the url of your website will change from http:// to https:// and along with this, if you are using a latest web browser the color of the status bar will also change to yellow. Some browser show a yellow lock right there in the address bar.

3. Encryption

E-commerce websites, which practice safe shopping experience for their customers use 128 bit encryption and more to transfer the data. This is the latest and most secure way of transmitting your credit card information and personal details over the internet. If a shopping website uses this encryption technology it will say it somewhere on their website. The usual place to check is the footer or header of the website where the logos of such encryptions are displayed prominently.

4. Hacker safe

There are website certification programs which test and certify whether a particular website is hacker safe or not. This testing is done on a regular basis and the dates are displayed along with the certification. A website which has undergone some kind of hacker safe testing is definitely a better bet to depend on. I want to be able to accept credit cards and dedit cards at my store. at this time I only accept cash.I want to know the best way to put this system into my store.

There a million and one guys who will want to sign up with a merchant's account. Finding them is not the problem. Trying not to get ripped off is.

Find out exactly how much the equipment is going to cost you. The salesman will tell you that it is free, but don't believe it. There is nothing that is free.

When they start quoting rates, be aware that the only rates that they will quote is the "qualified" rates. What is a qualified rate? That is the rate on a standard credit card. If someone presents a card that earns airline miles as an example, that is a non-qualified card and you pay high rates. You don't have any choice, mind you, because you sign agreement with Visa and MasterCard that requires you to accept all cards presented.

Another area to be wary is on transaction fees. Many processors charge a per transaction fee. Try to get the lowest available.

Remember there are only a few Primary Processors on the planet. All the rest are resellers, and resellers charge a markup.

Don't accept the first offer that comes along, and ask a lot of questions.

for those of you who are not quite convinced that the way credit cards are marketed and used today is destructive, you simply have no clue. It is not that far from how the tobaco companies market cigarettes.

dont never borrow.Paying minimum payment (2.5%) on a debt of 7000 £ will take about 30 something years to clear!!!!!

And they can't pay it off, so it is like they got free money and goods. I don't get it-if they don't pay and they don't get arrested then what is the motivation to pay back what they owe. Could someone please explain how the system protects itself? A person could charge tons of money and then what? What if they die, or don't have any money in the bank? I mean, what else happens besides them getting hounded by collection agencies? I do not have a credit card because I don't believe in spending what I don't have, but I see so many people living so high on the hog and they don't have the money to do so and I don't see any punitive action that motivates them to pay...so, what's up with that?

Credit card companies give incentives to people for using them, like free airline tickets or low interest rates. People also like the idea of not having to pay for something until the end of the month.

Now, to protect the system, the companies usually approve people who actually have something of value, that way they can reposess something and get some money out of it. Most credit cards also have a limit on how much money can be charged to them in a month.

They also make people sign a form that says they will pay it back each month, and if they dont then the credit card companies have right to take what is yours (money, material posessions, cars, houses) to pay back what you owe.
