If I have a vending machine with credit card reader, How the reader handles the transaction?Direct with the Co

I need to understand how credit card reader at vending machines work. Does Reader connect direct with each credit card Company, accepts the transaction and charge fee to reader account? How much is the fee?

The card reader works just like one in any business. It needs to be hooked up to a phone line and it will dial the approval line for the cards that it accepts. Also like a regular card processing machine you will have to pay a percentage of each sale or a transaction fee for each sale. It depends on which cards you accept as to the amount and the fees. Each card company has a card services department for businesses just call them and find out.
Good luck!

If I have a vending machine equipped with credit card reader:?

•Have I to have an account with each one of the credit cards I accept in my reader?
•If I have not account with “XX” credit card I can not accept “XX” credit cards?
•Does my credit card reader have one identification code, the same for all credit cards I accept, or one identification code for each credit card account I have?
•Does the credit card reader by itself have its own identification and unique code?
•Do I, or does the credit card company assign the identification code for the reader?
•Is There a minimum value for the transaction to be accepted by the reader and or the credit card? A total charge of $0.20 could be possible? Could it be accepted and processed by the reader and credit card company? How much cost to open an account? For how long time is it valid? Do I have to pay monthly/yearly fee. How much is the charge/transaction?Do I get reports of transactions?Where to buy a book /literature to learn on?

  • Square turns iPhone into Credit-card reader - Specs, reviews and ...

The innovation is in a small, plastic card reader that fits in to the headphone jack of an iPhone (or iPod Touch) and transfers the credit card’s swipe data to the app. After the employee enters the amount to charge, the customer confirms by scrawling their signature with their finger and then either one enters the customer’s email address to send the receipt to. The payment is processed by Square for a small percentage plus a fixed fee; the funds are transferred directly to the store’s bank account, cutting both time and complexity on the processing side. The customer’s receipt includes a map showing the location of the transaction which is handy for those who record, sort and file such things.
