Can someone please tell me if filing personal bankruptcy will get rid of all my credit card debt?

Also, anyone know of a reputable (tried and true) debt relief assistance or debt counseling company?

Good Morning =)

Depending on your assets(house/car/bank accounts) you may be able to get all of your unsecured(credit card) debt discharged(forgiven) by filing chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Consumer Credit Counseling Service(MMI) helped my sister figure out that bankruptcy was her only option and MMI has been approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees to issue counseling certificates in compliance with the bankruptcy code(needed for court.)

They only charged a fifty dollar fee total to counsel her, give her the needed certification for court and also the follow up paperwork she had to have for her bills to be discharged.

To find out what your options are, call or fill out the form online by following the link below.

Best of Luck to you =)

I have a lot of credit card debt close to $50000 from my business. What are some ways to clean this up?

My business is still in the growth stage but we have racked up debt close to $50000 that is sitting on my personal credit cards. Should I transfer that debt to a large credit line under my company name? Will that alleviate the stress on my personal credit debt? or will that not matter because it is still my corporation? Any assistance with this matter is appreciated. I only hope to clear these debts sooner than later..Thanks

Unless you company is publicly traded, you will not be able to move the debt. Your company debt is your debt.

I see this often when I arrange loans.

The real question is "How do I borrow more. while I am in debt?'

The short answer is simply this: Your business needs to start making money and paying down debt. Failing that, you are in trouble.

I wish you luck. I've been there. Not a good place to be.

can credit card companies take your home ?

I owe 40,000 in unsecured credit card debt. I own my home outright. I am on public assistance and going to school. I am a single mom of 5. I live in the state of Maine. Can they take my home? Can they force me to sell? I will not be able to pay until im done with school in 4 years. Im six months behind in my bills. They already are taking me to court, havent been served yet but they told me so. If they "just" put a lien , how bad does the interest add up? What happens if I ignore it until I die? Will my children be forced to sell it? Can they keep it? So upset and confused.

absolutely not unless you use the equity in your home to pay them off. never use the equity in your home to pay unsecured debt. contact consumer credit counseling as they can lower the amount owed and even in some cases eliminate the interest. if that is not a possibility for you then it may be prudent to file for bankruptcy. most credit card companies only harass and threaten you. they rarely follow up with court action and even if they do the only thing the court can do is order a judgment against you. this will show on your credit report until it's paid or a settlement is reached between you and the companies or the statute of limitations runs out and it has to be removed. in short they are mostly just trying to scare you into making payments you can't afford. many states have a statute of limitations on how long the default remains on your credit report. the time for the limitation starts on the date your last payment was received, so if you make a payment every once in a while the "clock starts over" each time. this is a reason the companies will try to talk you in to paying even a little on your balance, so in this case nothing IS better than something. Good Luck and Don't Worry! They Can Not Touch Your House.

In most states, if you qualify for public assistance you will also qualify for free legal help. Call your financial worker tomorrow and ask for information on Legal Aid.

Help with credit card debt/loans?

Before I ask my question, I want to provide a little background info. I have been job hopping recently and have finally found a good job. I currently owe about 11,600 on my truck with a monthly payment of 338 per month. I have 2000 dollars in Credit card debt that has a pretty high interest rate (not sure what it is exactly).

Question is - Is it possible to extend the loan I have through my bank (I think is is a credit union)... basically raise my existing loan from 11,600 to 13,600 and just stop using the credit card? Because as long as I have the card, I tend to use it. I am very low on cash right now because of the job hopping, and need some financial assistance. please help.

1 You can contact the credit card company and most have a financial hardship program. It freezes your card and you can't make any more purchases with it, and it also stops the interest charges and they also won't charge you late fees. The payments are lower and you can get out of the debt easier than trying to pay it off normally.
#2 Get a new card, and pay it completely each month. Closing credit cards will hurt your credit rating because it diminishes your available credit line which is about 10% of your credit score, and payment history is about 35% so if you pay it all off right away you'll really be helping your credit score. A secured credit card is another good option.
#3 make the minimum payment on credit card 1 and throw everything you can into the truck instead of paying off the other card quicker. the car is worth more and the card isn't hurting you any more, and you still have credit your paying back even if the card is closed so it isn't droping your score like paying $2000 off in a hurry is. (the longer you have an "open/active" credit line/balance the better your credit score.
