Credit Card Debit

I signed up for this chase extras promotion crap. And apparently, to gain points, I can only swipe my debit card as a credit, in order to get points.

Why is this the case, and why do so many credit/debit companies encourage you to swipe your DEBIT card as a credit card and sign?

Because when you use a credit card, the merchant has to pay a fee, which is usually 3% to the bank. So...this way the bank makes more $.

I'm going round Europe from May to July this year with a friend and we were wondering what would be the better way to finance ourselves as we travel round, a credit card or a debit card?

Also, what would be the best credit / debit card to get when we do so?

Both work just fine. I take both when I go. However, I use a visa prepaid travel card. I get that from my credit union. I would be willing to bet most banks have them now instead of Travelers Checks. Hope you enjoy your trip. Have a nice day!

I don't like carrying around actual money so instead, I carry my debit card. I am terrible with money, I keep spending it so I need to limit myself.

I need a credit card to pay for something online from a site I haven't dealt with before - so I wanted to have a safe way of paying. Can you tell me any good CHEAP instant virtual prepaid credit/debit cards? Please provide addresses if you have them.
