Credit Card Bureau

What credit bureau does Discover credit card check when opening an account?

For those of you out there who have a Discover credit card...which credit bureau did they check? Transunion,Equifax, or Experian when running your credit?

It really depends on where you live. Credit card companies rarely pull the same credit bureau for every state.

Go to the site I've listed and click on Forums. Then look in the upper right corner for CreditPulls, click on that. Then type Discover in the box and put in your state.

is there a way i can look up a credit card by which credit bureau it uses to rate a person's credit?

here's the thing... i've checked all 3 credit bureaus and i have good scores and bad scores, so is there a way i can lookup a credit card company by the credit bureau it uses to determine whether to give a card to someone or not? does that make sense? lol.

Yes you make sense lol

The first link is to a yahoo group that lists cards by many different ways, one of which is what credit bureau was pulled for what card. You can even look to see what cards pulled which bureau in your state. (every once in awhile a creditor may pull different bureaus in different states) Plus it usually gives what the persons score was at the time of applying.

The second link, if you go into the credit forum, many people talk about what cards they have been approved/denied for, who pulled the inq, what negatives they had on the report etc.

Looking for Prepaid Credit Card that reports to the credit bureau and has small startup and monthly fees.?

I have bad credit and I am working to establish that credit. I've heard of the prepaid credit cards that report to the credit bureau, but some are $30 to start the account. I'm looking for the following:

- Reports to credit bureau, so that I can improve my credit.
- Low start up fee. (Under $10.00)
- Low monthly or annual fee (Under $10 p/month, $60 p/year)

If anyone knows, or has story about a good card, please respond. Thanks.
I appreciate the answers. I am looking for one that does not go through a bank. I don't want to have to open a new bank account for it. I'm looking along the lines of a mastercard/visa/etc. Thanks.

I think the card that you're talking about is the Eufora prepaid card. It has a credit building program [click here https://www.eufora.com/creditbuilder.jsp] From what I gathered from the website, it only reports to Transunion and Equifax. I myself think that a secured card would work out a lot better than this, being that I've had one before, and I don't know a whole lot about this. But I've posted the links below explaining more about the Eufora card and where to apply

do i have the right to make or ask my credit card companies or lenders to report my accounts to the bureau?

i have alot of good standing accounts with no or low balances but they are not been reported to the credit bureau by the credit card companies or my lenders and thats really effecting my history and score.

Creditors are not required by law to report your account with anyone, and that includes the credit bureaus. If it is affecting your score, consider closing those and opening accounts where they will report your on-time payments.

I just just applied for a capital one credit card, how do I show proof of my credit limit to credit bureau?

I just just applied for a capital one credit card and did not know that they don't report your credit score to 3 major credit bureau, if I did know then I would of not applied for Capital One. So how do I notify and show proof to the 3 major credit bureau what my credit limit is for Capital One? So I don't have to risk lowering my credit score? Does anyone have any hints about Capital One?

Yes. Cap1 does not report your limit.

This is important because, without a credit limit reported, your fico score is determined by arbitrary number, in this case it will take your highest spending month and label that as your credit limit. So if that were to be 500 and the next month you spend 400, it would show that you spend 80% of your available credit, which will drop your score.

To those who think just paying off your bill month to month will raise your credit, sorry to say, are up for a rude awakening, credit is determined on a big part of the fico score. They determine it by how much load you use each month, spending below 50% of your credit limit is the fastest way to build your score. Meaning, if your limit is 500, try not to spend more tehn 250 on that card.

Solution:
option 1, is to like some have said, max it to your current limit given, so if 3k is your limit, spend 2900. But only do this if your are sure that you can pay it off in one swoop, or you may rish putting yourself into further debt in which case defeats this entire purpose.

option 2, get another card that reports your limit. I've read that cap1 has some very shady practices like raiseing your interest rates and lowering you credit limit without any notice.

hope tat helps
