Does having a high credit balance affect the green card process?
Get a Business Credit Card for Your Business

Applying for green card and i have a high credit balance. Im from Malaysia, will this affect my process? I went to college in the U.S. and have been employed with few companies and have been in the U.S. for over four years. My lawyer told me that my credit card balances were high and this would be a problem. He said i am from a country of Islamic faith so the process is very strict???

I don't see why that would affect the green card process, as long as you have the money to pay for the paperwork fees. My lawyer didn't even check my credit, why would he?

does paying off credit card balance in full hurt or help credit score?
comparative chart

I have my credit account set up to take the full amount of the the credit balance directly out of my checking on the 28th of each month. I have read many different things about building a good credit score. Does paying off the full amount of my credit balance at the end of each month help or hurt my credit score? (any other ways to build a good credit score for a person who just got their first credit card would be helpful too, thanks)

It actually helps. Check out the two websites below to see how you can improve your credit score.

Basically, the fewer credit inquiries (aka applications) the better. The longer the credit history, the better. The more credit you have available to you versus the amount of credit you have, the better. The more varied types of credit you have (aka home loans, car loans, credit cars, business lines of credit, etc), the better.

Hope this helps.

My credit card balance is over 50%. How long will it take my credit score to go back up?
0% on balance transfers!

Hi. I recently just got my first credit card ever and used it to make a $1600 purchase. The credit limit is $3000, so obviously I'm over 50% of the balance, and I just learned that's bad for credit scores. I expect to be able to pay off the purchase in the next two or three months. Will my credit score go back up immediately after I get the balance on my card down, or will it take a while? Thanks.

Once your percent gets to below 30% of your available credit, you will see improvements. They lower the percentage, the higher your potential score is.

Should I transfer my credit card balance?
lower your credit card balance

I have 5 credit cards carrying a total balance of $4600. I got a credit card offer for 0% on balance transfers until January 2009. Should I transfer 1 or 2 of the other cards balances to take advantage of the 0%? Or will it be worse for me to be opening another account? I was not planning on closing any of the credit card accounts, b/c i figure it would be better for my credit to have the older ones on there. Does this sound ok?

retain the oldest card, cos it may be helpful for your credit checks. grab the new card that is offering 0% bal trfrs, but try to get rid of your three cards otherwise you end up 6 cards

keep the oldest and another card that u might think u need and the new card and cancel other three.

What percent of my credit card balance should I use per month?
Comparison of e-commerce and cash. Isolated 3D image

I always pay my credit card balance in full every month. I've heard that if I go over 20% of my balance, my credit will decrease. So for example, if my limit is $1,000 I should only spend up to $200 EVEN THOUGH I pay it in full??

If you pay it off every month, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're planning to apply for a big loan (like a car loan or a mortgage) within the next six months. If you are planning for something big like that in the next six months, you should stick to the safe side and not charge more than $200 per month. Otherwise, don't worry about it until you have something coming up.

It will take awhile, it isn’t as much about how much you have on your card, but the fact that you make your monthly payment on time, and the time you have the card. Your credit probably took 1 point ding, I wouldn’t worry about it, just continue to make minimums or much higher each month and then when you get it to 0 let it sit there, you need to build up history on the credit card. Good Luck
