E-Commerce: Minimum price to sell via credit card?

Hi everybody! I hope this note finds you all great...

I'm from Argentina (sorry for my english, im doing my best) and I have a question regarding webpages/e-commerce/credit card payments.

I have an idea I want to develop, and it is a very massive and cheap product. So, let's assume I want to sell something at 1USD.

My question is: Is it possible? And how?

If my page accepts credit card payment, how much will be the fee for each transaction cost? For example, if credit card fee is 40cents (fixed) + xx% of total amount (variable), then I will be paying more than 40% of my revenues to the credit card.

Something with expertise, could please explain me if there is a "minimum" amount, below it doesn't make any sense to use credit card?

Thanks a lot and I hope I was clear with my question!

Cheers! =)

most credit cards charge between 8 and 10 percent on the retailers end.
That is in the USA

no security code on a commerce credit card how do you get it?

Apply for a new card. The numbers on the back of the cards rub off so easily, and the banks do not keep track of the security codes.

Is this Commerce Bank in Delaware? That is a great place to bank. I kept them when I moved to Los Angeles.

How do you accept credit card online if you are using yahoo small business e-commerce?

I am trying to start an online business using yahoo small business's e -commerce. However i need to accept credit cards on my site. how do i do that?

You need to apply for a credit card processing account or you could set it up through PayPal virtual terminal (high rates though). I just set up credit card processing over the phone so it's a little different, but Elavon offers discounted rates if you have a Costco membership. I'm pretty sure Elavon also had online credit card processing as an option. If you call them they should be able to tell you how to integrate it with Yahoo Small Business.

Before you start accepting credit cards make sure you get acquainted with all the scams going on. Credit cards suck, basically any customer can do chargeback and essentially steal merchandise from you. International orders are incredibly risky IMO. Do your research first.

what to do with high risk credit card "plains commerce"?

Ok first of all I had horrible credit back in 2001, now its all looking good again, so I applied for a loan. one of the people I owed money to back in 2001 sold the account to plains. I plan on paying off my plains credit card and all the other high risk cards. the Question is since I've had plains card for so long and I've paid it on time along wilth the other high risk cards whats should I do? even with no balance on the cards they'll still charge me the annual fee which is outragous, but I dont wanna just cancel the card for it'll ruin my credit. what should I do?

I Know how you feel..I have a card from them as well. They are big time losers. What I am planning to do is pay them off, cut up the card so I don't use it, and just have the balance at zero. Once you pay the card off,and get to zero balance your credit score should go up some. Sometimes canceling a card could hurt your credit score, so I'm just willing to sacrifice and pay the annual fee. That is better than having a balance month after month.

Can I add a Personal Line of Credit to my Commerce Check Card?

I opened a new checking account with Commerce Bank. Previously I had an account with Chevy Chase along with a personal line of credit to protect me from any overdraft fees up to $500. Does Commerce Bank offer this?

Thanks!

I would call them and ask.

  • Regarding E-Commerce

E-commerce is a term widely used these days but for those who haven’t given it that much thought, it simply means conducting business through an electronic medium, particularly the Internet. This mode of business is becoming more and more effective and it has, in fact, brought opportunities closer for businessmen who are given a more cost-efficient manner of handling their businesses. Since e-commerce happens online, it allows one to save hugely on overhead expenses that traditional businesses may find difficulty coping with. Hence, it is said to be one of the most useful trade innovations of the century. E-commerce may sound complicated for one who doesn’t know much about it but it’s actually very simple - one simply needs a computer, an Internet connection and a website. It doesn’t necessarily require technical expertise and one might need to hire a professional team to put up a website and maintain it. There are also companies that specialize in providing small businesses with technical tools necessary for e-commerce such as shopping carts and others that make business through the Internet possible. Potential customers simply have to log on to this website, pick items or services they wish to avail of, select among various shipping options, and make online payments with those sites that do accept credit cards. An online store that does not maintain an e-commerce merchant account may decline credit card payments, however, this is generally viewed as a disadvantage for obvious reasons. On the other hand, the biggest advantage that e-commerce offers is the convenience it offers consumers who may just shop using their personal computers and not have to deal with frustrating crowds. While e-commerce is one of the more positive technological developments to date, it is not exempt from abuse. Consumers may, however, protect themselves from dubious websites by taking the time to research on which are legitimate and which are not. Even online merchants themselves deal with this risk of abuse. While there are many useful online tools online that the merchant can use, there are as many cons and the only effective of avoiding them is devoting time to research on which ones ones they are. This can help the online merchant cut back on basic operational costs as well as time. In the world of e-business, it is, therefore, a must that one is able to update himself regularly on the latest tools that could help him advance his business interests over the web. This will become a critical factor if he is to become a positive online presence. One of the major conveniences that any e-business owner can offer consumers is to acquire a merchant card account and while it may take sometime for a merchant to understand how to accept credit cards , it will be an effort well-rewarded in the end.
