So this past billing cycle I paid a card online after 5pm (EST). I paid the card balance full at 4pm (PST). How bad and how long will a day late payment on a $10 balance on a gas credit card affect my 5 year old once perfect credit history. I noticed that I got a late fee, which means that it was categorized as late, apparently chevron/texaco credit cards have no grace period.
Not at all I should think. But these card companies are sooooo slimy in getting those extra dollars from a person. Exhorbitant interests rates, plus the extra "humongous" fees for overdraft. I always try to pay everything at the end of the month and thus, I pay them nothing in "user" fees.

You know when you pay sears card payments inside the store can I do it with chevron gas card? Can I pay at any chevron gas station or do I have to mail the payment?
Sears stores are owned by Sears Corporation. Chevron is a franchise owned by individuals business owners who pay Chevron a royalty fee to use Chevron's name. You have to either mail it in or pay online. I dont have a Chevron card but I am 99.99% sure they will accept online payments.
I am 19 and 6 months old. I first got my own credit card when I turned 18 but it had an annual fee of $60, so I closed it a few months ago. Unfortunately I found out doing so hurt my credit as it was my oldest account. I have 1 other Visa cards and a line of credit, a Chevron card for gas, and a car loan. All under a year old. I just traded in my old car (loan: 6k) so that one is now considered paid off but I got a more expensive loan now (I'm happy with it and my car though). I've never missed any payments and I pay off all my balances. Unfortunately I have 13 inquiries on my report.
Doing everything right, how old will I have to be to have the best credit?
Thanks
I'm 28 and have a 800 FICO (almost as high as they go). You can have "Excellent Credit" easily in your mid 20s if you do things right, here are some suggestions:
-Use your credit cards, but pay them off. Using them keeps them active and ensures they report to the credit agencies. Paying them off in full every month ensures that your debt/limit percentage is low or $0.
-Keep your total debt low. As you pay down your car loan you should see your credit score rising.
-Never miss the due dates (you're doing this now, but I have to stress it because it's crucial).
-Stop asking for credit. The 13 inquiries are very detrimental now, but will fade fairly quickly over time. After 6 months they will be much less important and after 2 years they will be almost negligible to your score. Only apply for 1 or 2 loans during any year (including credit cards), and only apply if you can get a much better deal or you absolutely need the loan.
You can see your TransUnion FICO score for free every month if you have a wamu credit card.

You may wish to wait 6 months before you apply. Your score should be quite a bit higher in 6 months because your inquiries will be getting older... that should ensure that you qualify for a card. If you get a high interest rate, simply never use the card, but log into your account online every month to see your FICO score.
I purchased two money orders on 03/01/2007. One for Chevron credit bank and the other one for Sprint pcs. I mailed both of them at the post office on 03/02/2007 aound 9a.m. I logged onto my Chevron account and they received my payment on 03/05/2007 (Concord, CA). Sprint on the other hand hasnt posted yet. It was sent to Dallas, TX. I cant believe 7 days later and no payment.
I called Sprint this morning and asked how long does it takes and the rep told me 7-10 days. I told her if my money order wasnt there by my due date of 03/12/2007 I was going to pay online and report the money order stolen. I have a gut feeling they are holding my payment to add late charges, but NOT Im too smart for that, I'll just pay online when the 12th gets here.
The reason I sent a money order is because I am trying despartely to get my credit cards down.
It depends on when the post office delivers it. Also, when you're paying by check or money order, a human at Sprint has to open all the envelopes that come in with payments and physically post them to all the thousands of accounts that pay by mail. Processing time can take time. The good news is that they date stamp all that mail the day it comes in so they will post it as of the date they received it, not the date that someone physically types the info in to your account.
I understand wanting to get your credit cards paid down and that's definitely a good thing. However, when you pay a bill, like Sprint, on line, using a credit card, it posts to your account immediately so you don't have to worry about whether it got there on time or not.
If you were normally going to send your credit card company $50 for payment that month and you were going to buy a $50 money order to pay sprint, pay the sprint bill with your credit card and send the credit card company $100. You won't be adding to your credit card debt that way and will save yourself the cost of the money order and won't have to worry about it getting there on time.
I don't have a Chevron Card but I would imagine they have an on-line payment too. You can set it up to be deducted from your checking account, at least that's the way most credit card payments work if you're paying on line.
I can't remember the last time I bought a stamp. I pay everything on line these days.
Chevron Credit Card a Scam?
Chevron includes Texaco (they acquired the company in 2001) so they issue similar cards under each brand. Their ordinary cards are not affiliated with any major payment networks (like Visa, MasterCard, etc) so they can only be used for purchases at their stations. Two of them offer no rewards on fuel purchases, and the other one that does requires cardmembers to pay a $25 annual fee just to have the ability to earn cash back…
Let’s be honest here. The only reason 95% of us apply for a gas card is because we are looking to get a cash back rebate on our fuel purchases. So you would think these would have fantastic rewards? Well, think again. In fact, according to their...
