Why did I recieve a new BoA credit card I never asked for?

I had a Bank of America Platinum Plus Visa card, which I use regularly, and it wasn't supposed to expire until 2010. But today, I recieved a card that looks identical, with the same credit limit, but with a different account number.

I have not opened any new accounts in the past year, and I haven't spoken to a customer service rep for months. I never asked for a new card or applied for anything. Why would they send this to me?

First call the number on your platinum card and verify why a new card and number were sent to you, if BOA said it was requested cancel the second card right away, then get online to www.ftc.gov/credit and find the fraud alert link, you may have to put a freeze on your social in writing to them, do not wait to do this, do it now if possible.

my credit score is 740. I have only one BOA card?

I only have one BOA credit card that has credit limit just over $ 1,100. I am trying to either extend it or get another credit card that has ery high credit limit. which card should I apply for? should I extend the same card or how much credit limit can I get with that score?

The criteria for raising credit limits is generally based on the following:

* Payment record - Do you pay your bills on time every month? Do you pay more than the minimum amount due? Has your account been open for at least 6 months? If you answered yes to these questions, the odds of a credit limit increase are in your favor.

* Credit history - Do you have a lot of credit cards with balances? Are the balances on your credit cards all charged to the limit? Do you have any charged off accounts? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may not be eligible for a credit limit increase.

* Employment - Are you currently employed? How long have you been at your present job? How much do you earn? All of these things are taken into consideration when credit managers raise credit limits, especially if you are asking for a large increase.

* Credit score - This is the "be-all end-all" of credit decisions. As you have a good credit score you have a good chance of getting a credit line increase.

The limit that you can expect still depends on the First 3 Criteria mentioned above. As you must have a good income to justify the credit limit you are seeking for.

I have a BoA credit card which they wrote off to collections and a checking account. Can they take $ from it?

I have a Bank of America credit card, which I went 90 days past due, they wrote it off to collections, and I have not yet paid.
I also have a bank account (checking and savings) with them.
So my question is, can they take money i deposit into my bank accounts, and put it towards the credit card balance?
I want to be able to have more than $20 in my account, and I cant afford to have it taken from me.

Yes, it's call right to offset. I work for a bank and your checking/savings account can be used to repay delinquent accounts as long as the checking/savings account and account in default are with the same bank. A CD can also be cashed to pay deliquent account - again all accounts would have to be with the same bank.

Can Bank Of America freeze my cking acct for not paying my BOA credit card?

I have 2 bank of america credit cards that I have not been able to make payments on for the past 3 months. My checking account is with Bank of America as well, which I have direct deposit with them from payroll for over 10 years. If you could help me with this question, I would really appreciate it.

They can, though not after 3 months, it needs to about about 150-180 days before they can take money for a personal card.

The real question is why can't you pay the debt? Have you looked into any help? Call BoA and talk to them about setting up a payment program.

Could someone answer my question about finance charges on a BOA credit card.?

I never get a straight answer for my question. I have BOA credit card. If i make a purchase and put it on my credit card lets say today. How long does it take for the finance charge to apply to that amount of dollars that i have charged on my credit card? Does the finance charge apply if i dont pay the whole amount i owe by the due date, or the finance charge apply right at the time i make the purchase?
Thank You,

The charge appears the same day you make the purchase. You will have to read the agreement to see what your grace period is, but for the sake of argument, let's use 21 days. That 21 days can be eaten up by postal delivery delays, your delay in writing the check and mailing it in.

If you don't pay the full balance by the due date, your finance charge will apply from the date of purchase, not the due date. You will continue to accumulate and pay finance charges until the balance has been returned to $0.00.

  • Breaking Down Bank of America's Recent Moves

It seems that Bank of America in particular has made more headlines than any other credit card issuer for the last couple of months. Although some headlines such as vowing not to raise interest rates on their credit card offerings until the CARD Act was fully implemented is very cardholder friendly, other news was not. Now many experts have gained more insight on these moves by Bank of America from the release of its financial reports, and believe that consumers could still see more major changes on the way.

According to Bank of America’s 2009 third quarter financial reports, they are losing millions within certain parts of its credit card portfolio. It seems that within its global card services unit, their credit card purchases declined dramatically just over fourteen percent from sixty-three billion to fifty-three billion. Their results also showed its charge off rates doubled from just over six percent to twelve from the same time period last year.
