I'm wondering what is the best prepaid credit card in Canada which a 17 year old can get? I will be using it for online orders, as using a debit card with paypal takes too long (a bit more then a week to transfer the funds).
To jaysweep:
I have a checking account and keep track of my money.
Please open up a checking account and then get a debit card. Use a debit card and keep track of the money you withdrawal from your account. Using that prepaid credit card is just like money in someone else's hands ready to be stole from you.
Why do you want a prepaid credit card?
Why don't you apply for a credit card so you can build your credit by paying off the credit card and keeping your credit score high?

I think I am getting ripped off by my current gold card with Airpoints provider. They charge to carry the card to the tune of about $150/year. I just went over my limit for the month and they charged me $20...WTF! Has anyone done analysis on the best plan for loyalty points (while favouring travel rewards)? And it needs to be available in Canada.
i think TD Canada Trust???
im switching to them..

One of my friend told me that president`s choice master card give $30 on every 30000 president`s choice points. Is there other more generous one?
PC isn't bad, you get 10 points for every dollar spent and can redeem 1,000 points for one dollar after you've accumulated 20,000.
http://www.pcpoints.ca/en/index.asp
Example, if you spent $100 you will accumulate 1,000 points which can be redeemed for $1. Basically we're talking about a 1% cashback program here (possibly 1.5% - I'm not sure if it's an EXTRA 5% for shopping at Presidents Choice participating stores).
I like the Citi "Drivers Edge" card, which has 2% which can be put against the purchase of a new or used car.
http://www.citibank.com/canada/cards/eng lish/overview_de.jsp
or the Citi Petro-Canada card which offers $0.02 off every litre of fuel (when gas was below $1.00/L this was a better deal at about 2%, now it's closer to 1.5%).
There's also the Amex "BlueSky" rewards card which essentially offers 1.25% back on rewards, primarily focused on travel.

Shop around, decide what sort of rewards you are after. Just don't forget that at 1 or 2% you'll need to spend $100,000 to get that $1,000 or $2,000 in rewards, so its going to take a little while.

In canada, you can't use the giftcards in the app store and Im not allowed to use my mom's credit card. I dont care if its download illegally but I do not want to jailbreak my ipod (can you even do that anymore?)
On the homepage, could you scroll to the bottom and change the world store from canada to united states? idk. Ha just a thought
I'm heading to Canada and NYC in the Summer Holidays, and not sure about the best way to travel with money - are travel cheques still commonly used? Is a credit card with 0% the best way? If so, any recommendations?
Both countries use different currencies, and don't have a clue how much to take! Don't want to come back to horrendous bank charges!
Thanks
Abbey Zero, the Post Office and Nationwide's credit cards come up tops for spending abroad. There are some 0% deals on these cards aswell as offering the best possible exchange rate and no withdrawal fees. This site tells you which card might be best for your spending and which ones you should avoid!
PS. It's becoming increasingly difficult to cash travellers cheques as I think they are wanting to phase them out. I do think a card is the best option for you.

Health Beat: A Letter from Canada
Below, a letter from a Canadian disputing some of the propaganda that we hear about health care in Canada. (Thanks to HealthBeat reader Lisa Lindell for putting me in touch with Vera Goodman) This is the first in what I hope will be a regular series featuring letters from patients, doctors, nurses and others describing how health care works in their countries. Here is the reality: Every citizen of Canada has health care for doctor visits, emergency, hospital stay and surgeries. In some provinces there is a small annual premium. I believe it was about $600.00 per family here in Alberta until last year when my province eliminated the premium. I think this...
