I just bid and won an article in Yahoo Japan the first time but both Yahoo Japan's Payment ("Kantan") and Yahoo Japan's Wallets have rejected my attempt to make on-line payment by overseas credit cards even though I am using a domestic shipping address via a courier.
Master card and VISA card doesn't spread their network directly in Japan.
Because Japanese financial industry is strong. They have set up their own Japanese credit clearance network.
If your overseas credit card company have any contract with one company of the Japanese network, probably you can register the Yahoo! Wallets.
If not, it is impossible.
Paypal is a desperate bid.
If I have an ecommerce website, and someone from Europe wants to use a credit card to pay for the product, will that be any different from accepting credit cards from people in the United States? I plan on using Visa, Mastercard, AE, and possibly Discover card as payment options. I am using authorize.net as my gateway. Thanks for the help!
It's no different from accepting US based credit cards. The most important thing to know is that foreign credit cards do not support AVS or CVV and this means you have no means to verify if the credit card is legitimate or or not. This increases your likelihood of fraud especially considering the international orders are high risk anyway.
Basically if you're going to accept international be careful as your risk goes up significantly. Also, be sure to notify your merchant account provider that you intend to accept international orders as they may not allow that. This will prevent them from freezing your account and holding your money.
Authorize.Net shouldn't matter but it turns out they do. They apparently have an issue with handling AVS from Canada and the UK. If you plan to accept orders from there you should make sure you don't have Authorize.Net set to decline orders that Fail AVS automatically.
I am a merchant and I have reached the limit the company I am with allows me to accept in a month as payment. I need to open an account now to be able to process the next couple of days of sales. I need to be able to accept about $15,000 a month total.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. My customers are not on line. I would like to do the banking on line. My customers are here in my office. I can't have them go into pay pal.
Have you tried Costco. They have a Group Credit Card Company. We had lots of problem with Visa to the point where we didn't even accept Visa. But then Costco have different plans for their executive card holders.
What do I need to do to enable my business to accept payments by credit card? This would be over the phone, not on line or in person.
Who do I speak to? What are the charges? What equipment will I need?
Not sure if the costs outweigh the benefit of being able to deal with companies who I wouldn't want to give trade credit to!
thanks
Is your business a web based business? Do you sell off a website? Paypal offer very high rates for their services and often cause problems with payments regarding user accs etc. I would not recommend them. I have a retail company and are currently started our online shop - we have been recommended a company called worldpay. However, in our shops we use a company called Streamline who are affiliated with the high street bank Natwest. They charge different amounts depending on the method - i.e. a debit card is charged 55pence per transaction no matter what the transaction amoutn is. However, with credit cards we are charged up to 3 per cent of the sale by the processors. We then pay a monthly rental for the card terminal of approximately £25. You can take payments over the phone with these terminals easily - and they print out a neat receipt to then send to your client. I would advise you go and see your business bank manager (if you have a business acc) and discuss the options. However - remember you do not have to use the processor affiliated with your bank and use this to your advantage. All of the rates are negotiable so shop around and play them off eachother.
Hope this has helped.
