I need to get my new car registered at the end of this month with licenses plates. I have a feeling it's going to be pretty expensive and I might not have enough until I get paid on the 5th to pay for everything, so does anyone know if most court houses accept credit cards or do they only accept checks and cash? Thanks
In colorado, you register at the courthouse, thanks!
Are you sure it's the courthouse? I've lived in 5 states across the country and I've never been to the courthouse to do it. But if you are talking about the DMV (department of motor vehicles), or a tag agency (called this in some states) they accept credit cards. But as far as I know I do not think courthouses accept anything other than cash or check.
You could always just call down there.
They say they will not accept cash or 3rd party checks. Looks like they try to delay full payoff. Yet this would seem to violate interstate commerce law.
Credit card companies are offering checks at rates lower than my loan percent, so it makes sense to use the check. If I transfer in money from the credit card to my checking account, then the credit card interest is higher than the loan percent.
If you can pay back the credit card, after you deposit that other check to have the funds to pay it back, and can do it right away, then use the cash advance check! Just don't borrow anything you can't pay back or you'll be in a heap of trouble!
I know people charge gifts all the time, it just seems odd that someone would give a gift like this. I received this and feel very uncomfortable about depositing it.
Nothing wrong with that. If they feel good giving it to you, why worry? Go ahead and deposit it.
I'd like to be able to pay my rent using my credit card so I can get the rewards points, but my landlord doesn't accept credit card payments. I'd like to find an online site where, for a nominal fee, they will send out a check for the amount due.
Credit card fees eating into store profits
The sweet smell of a dozen roses at Rose Bud Florists in Pawtucket evaporates for co-owner Manny Mourao after a customer whips out a credit or debit card as payment. Mourao estimates card fees eat $2 on every $20 bouquet of roses paid with plastic. Like many retail-business owners, Mourao finds his profit cut by card fees that can total as much as 4 percent of a transaction in an environment in which the retail sector is already struggling.
“By the time we pay the transaction fee and the percentage, we’re making peanuts,” Mourao said.
The same week Mourao spoke to Providence Business News earlier this month, retailers like him appeared before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services to say much the same thing. Various bills before Congress would regulate the network of fees known as credit card interchange fees and the dueling bills have pitted some of the country’s largest financial players against many of those that accept their cards every day. The reason is simple: money.
