I have about $4,000 and I'm hoping I can get some kind of lower-interest loan to pay them off with. I'm also an unenrolled student, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get private student loans. I don't want to call any of these skeezy sham "erase your debt" numbers. Where else can I go?
Hi there, try
http://personal-financial-help.solutions articles.com?loandirect they should beat CC interests and are http://buyersguide.aba.com registered.
The idea is to find a lower interest loan to pay your debts off, then you are left with the lower interest loan to pay.
If it is FIXED interest rates and LOWER, you are sorted.
Well, I mean better off than now as you'll be paying less interests.
Usually credit cards interests are quite high so they are fairly easy to beat. Not so with student loans. Anyway, hope it helps,

my parents aren't making payments on their usual bills, and i saw a credit card statement with a nearly 70,000 dollar balance... I think that my dad is over 100,000 in debt.... do I talk to them about this?
Get a good book like "Your Money of Your Life" or "The 9 Steps to Financial Freedom", and read it. Having it around the house may allow you to naturally open up a dialogue with them about money and finances. It may even encourage them to read the book themselves and take control of their situation. Most libraries have some good finance books that help you get out of debt and back on track.

I was watching the Today Show & their financial specialist was talking about credit card debt dropping off your credit report after so many years but I missed most of her comments .
Anyone hear of this ? Is it a fact ?
Does anyone know of a website I can check with? I can't find it on the Today Show website.
Seven years after something negative is put onto your credit report (i.e. a late payment, a debt sent to a collections agency, etc) it is removed. Of course, this does not mean you have a perfect credit score every 7 years, because it's 7 years after each individual negative item.
For example:
Let's say Jeff made a late payment on his credit card in July, 2000.
He then let a loan go to collections in July, 2005.
As of July 2007, he would no longer see the late payment on his credit report, but the collections item would still have 5 years left.
The 7 year limit is the credit agencies way of giving a second chance. Who doesn't get into a little credit card trouble when they're young? This way, poor habits that have since changed do not continue to follow you through the rest of your life.
I'm not talking about those debt consolidation programs, where they settle your debt and you make payments to them. That actually adversely affects your credit. But what other ways are there?
Pay the minimum on all cards except one. Put every extra penny you can find towards paying off that first card. As soon as that card is paid off, close the account. Then add everything you were sending to the first card plus the minimum you were already paying to the second card.
Start with either the card with the smallest balance or the one with the highest interest rate.
Clip coupons and cut any unnecessary expenses. Buy the store brand at the grocery store instead of the national brand. Buy household staples at the dollar store. Don't waste money on trendy clothes. Before you go to the store, make a shopping list. Review it and make sure you absolutely need everything on that list. Then cross off three things. Stick to the list at the store and don't impulse buy things. Go to the library, not the bookstore. Change your cell phone to the cheapest plan you can or cut it off all together.
good luck
as i understand it you get a credit card where you can spend 1000pounds for example that you dont have so you are effectively -1000pounds but that is the limit is it not? after a grand i understand that you cannot spend more...so how is it people talk about huge credit card debts etc? is it more than one card or unlimited credit with high interest?
im thinking of obtaining a credit card
More than £1000 limit.
More than 1 card.
Paying off the minimum and the interest costs more the next month.

I am sick and tired of all this marketing tricks. It is very clear that most of the reviews written about this book are actually written by people marktng this book under different account names. It is very clear that these reviews are sales pitches for the book.
I have read enough real reviews of products, and get my own products reviewed by many customers. These reviews are fake- in my opinion. And this is a clear sign that this book, it's publishers, and author, are not honest people you should trust.
