I need to make a one-time payment and I need to know what is the lowest amount in percentage that anyone has settled a credit card debt.
it all depends on how you negotiate & how late your payments are. the best i got was 20% from $3000 to $700. it will reflect on your credit report as settled or paid in full (negotiate this) & you may get a 1099 at the end of the year for the difference.
depending on you tax situation, a 1099 may be better than paying the difference. i got 1099s totaling $7000 but it only cost me $500 in taxes.

closest gets BA
Do you think Men or Women have the biggest share?
more than half? .....
So you reckon us Brits have more card debt than all of the other countries in Europe put together? hmmm...
.....you're right....
but keep guessing no-one is close enought for BA.
I'll admit it's probably us girls and it's probably around 50 percent xx
If the fed bought a percentage of credit card debt from the stressed middle class that had good credit ratings would that free up more consumer money.
Say for example buying 4000 dollars of an 8000 debt that the family paid 20% interest, then charged the family 6% on that money. The credit card company could handle the details.
yes, this is a question, your thoughts on the impact. This is to contrast the federal government buying alot of bad debt that taxpayers have to cover.
Could they just buy my mortgage and give me a fixed 30 yr 4% loan, oh and throw in some cash - I need some new furniture
The other day I heard a commercial on the radio in which a guy said "Everyone has credit card debt! Everyone! If you need help with your debt problems, we can help ......" Yes, he really said "everyone" has credit card debt. That ticked me off, because I don't. I pay my credit card off every month, and have never been late. I can't be the only person who does this - living within my means.
Do these kinds of commercials bug anyone else? Do you have credit card debt? Anyone know the percentage of Americans with credit card debt?
whimsy: Yeah, too bad I can't be like all those people defaulting on their mortgages and piling up debt on credit cards - those are incredibly responsible people. Oh wait, they're the ones who got us into this whole economic mess!
whimsy: So funny I forgot to laugh. Rather ironic statement there.
Ok, what happened to whimsy's answer? Did someone report it? Seriously, I'm so over people reporting others' answers.
It struck a nerve with me too. I have one credit card I keep a small balance on most of the time because it's a fair company and they give me a good rate, frankly I sometime feel guilty about paying the balance every month. I pay all others in full monthly if I use them.
whimsy is just ridiculous, I would be more thankful if there were more people like you and I would love our government to be even half as responsible. Oh what a better country it would be.
If you have settled a credit card debt with Capital One, what percentage of the balance did they accept?
They accepted a 45% discount for me last month on a $28,000 original debt.
