Does America extradite for credit card debt?

Does America have an extradition treaty with any countries for people with credit card debt who have left the country or is credit card debt something you can get away with if you leave the USA without fear of anyone coming after you?

Unless fraud is proven, credit card debt is a civil matter. They will not extradite for that. At best, they would have to find you and sue you in your new country.....but then collection is next to impossible.

If you plan on coming back...well...that's a whole different matter.

Have you settled credit card debt with Bank of America?

If you have settled credit card debt with Bank of America, what percentage of the total balance did they accept? My first offer from them was 50%. Thanks!

Look, there is a certain department there that goes as low as 20 cents on the dollar. Email me or send me a message and I will tell you how. How many days are you behind though?

Can Bank of America file a civil claim for credit card debt?

I owe Bank of America some money from credit card debt, but I am currently enrolled in a debt management program, that told me not
to take any calls or make any payments. I recently received a phone call from someone saying a civil claim is going to be filed against me for this debt. How do I know if this is legit or not?

They can threaten you with lawsuits and they can even sue you for real. But they probably won't unless your balance is pretty high, like well over $10,000. It ends up costing them more in legal than it's worth and they have no way of knowing if you even have the money. So paying to get a judgement against you when you have no way of paying makes no sense.

Bank of America credit card debt collector question?

I had two credit cards with Bank of America.
Due to recession and losing my job I defaulted on both.
Balances were $2,000 for one and $13,000 for the other. They made me an offer to settle each and I am only able to settle the smaller balance one at this time.
I have until February 2010 to finish paying this card off.
Now I am getting calls from a Sunrise Family of Companies a debt collector for the card with the $13,000 balance. I spoke to them and explained that once I can pay off the smaller balance card I would talk to them about paying off this $13,000 debt. I asked them to call me in March 2010 to discuss and thought that would be it. Boy was I wrong . THEY ARE STILL CALLING. I don't understand what they think happened between our last conversation and now. What are they trying to accomplish?I have not won the lottery, nor gotten a big paying job in this time frame.
Question: What are my rights? How do I get these calls to stop until I am ready to settle this debt.
I am not hiding from my responsibility. I want to know what rights I have as a consumer, or do I have to live with this band of jerks until I can settle.By the way my pay history on both these accounts was A+ until I lost my job.
Any feed back would be great.

All I can tell you is that debt collectors will never give up

I had about the similar problem few months back but with american express. I asked the person to give me 2 months and I could pay the balance in full, and she went totally balistic, telling not asking me, but telling that I should use my other credit card (BOFA) to pay the debt. I refused to and told her politely that I'd prefer pay the balance in full in 2 months. That woman (can't even call her lady) was insane. Then I decided to hang. They kept on calling and calling, then I was forced to change my phone number.
Then about a month and a half after that, they sent me a mail asking me if I could settle for the 3rd of what I owed... Hey, I did :-)

Is the forever stamp just another way to run up America's credit card debt?

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

The math is that Bush sells the forever stamps today, takes that money and gives it to his oil corp buddies as tax breaks, walks away from office and leaves "others" to deal with the cost of mailing envelopes when that money has long since been stolen.

Is this what Bushies applaud? Everything that's bad for America?

no, it is to save them money on having to produce more 1 cent stamps when they raise the price of stamps every few months to compensate for gas prices. Even postage is becoming a bear market.

If the economy is getting better, you’d expect defaults and delinquencies on credit cards to be falling, right?

So are they? Is the credit card picture getting better or worse?

It’s an important question for the direction of the economy: You can’t expect consumers to pick u spending if 1) they don’t have jobs, and 2) their houses are worth less than they paid for them, and 3) they’re behind on their credit cards. And consumer spending is about two-thirds of all economic activity in the United States.

Well, the news on credit card debt is exactly the kind of mixed bag that you’d expect at this early stage of a recovery.
