I have $9000 in credit cards and $1300 in overdraft debt that needs to be paid.. I've been sent to collections on it.
I havent paid it due to the fact that I moved to the UK and hvent been making money..
I now am, and am able to pay $400 a month.. $200 to each visa.. and once july comes i can pay $400-500 EACH per month as I'm moving home and will be getting a sturdy paycheck again.
Once they're paid off, how long will it take to get my credit score out of the negaitves?
also, Can i just pay TD and RBC instead of the collections agencys? OR can I arrange the agency to take a set amount of my account.. to pay BOTH debts, or would it be seperate payments for each?
I used to work in collections, but we dealt with parking& speedingtickets, and library debt and things like that.. never credit cards..
TD & RBC have sold your debt to a collection agency. If you pay directly to them, the payment will not be credited to your account because you no longer have accounts there. You must pay the collection agencies and the costs will be steep due to their added fees and interest. There are different collection agencies for each former account, therefore you will have to pay each agency separately.
Contact the collection agencies and try to negotiate a settlement with them. This will save you some money and get this paid off faster. You can also negotiate that they will rate the account "Paid as Agreed" -- it's still a collection account, but "Paid as Agreed" does less harm to your credit rating than any other rating.
Accounts are listed on your credit report for 7 years after they are paid off.

I am a Canadian Citizen and have about 20 K Dirhams of credit card debt in UAE. What will happen if I dont pay it? I am currently living in Canada? Can the bank track down ny history in Canada? I will be grateful for any help.
It is always best to pay your debts.
If it was on a major credit card like Visa it doesn't matter where the debt was incurred, they will hound you to the ends of the earth. And it will show up on your credit report.
I have Canadian debt totaling about $3000.00. I've been paying it religiously for several years but.....I've lost my job and am essentially stuck here. I'm behind on payments by 3 months and have spoken with the companies to try to explain my situation but they are not giving me any break. I understand their position but I still don't have the funds to pay. They sent my debt to Canadian collection agencies and I don't know what to do. Can they knock on my door and demand money? Will this affect my American credit rating?
I'm doing everything I can to get back on my feet, I've even sold my car. I just need a few more months to get a new job and catch up on these bills. Any (real) advice is appreciated.
You are in a different country. Different laws, and hard to collect.
I worked with a guy from Canada. He blow off several credit cards while he was in the US. It did nothing to his US credit, and by the time he went back to Canada his credit was clean up there.

I do live in Canada and I have an outstanding CC debt with a world-renown bank in the UK, but for reasons beyond my control I am unable to make overseas payments. It is not a matter of not trying or wanting to pay, but other reasons are involved...
How could or will non-payment of a European-based card affect my credit rating in Canada? Does the UK bank have any legal possibilities to collect here in Canada, or to take legal action of any kind? Does a Visa or MasterCard debt in Europe affect my card status here in Canada, although the local card(s) are all in good standing?
I appreciate any feedback of info.
The debt will lower your Canadian credit score. At least 50 points..
