By filing personal bankruptcy (chapter 7) including business credit card debts with personal guarentees; do I also have to file for business chapter 11 bankruptcy because of these same credit cards or will the pesonal filing take care of them without involving my business?
Ur best bet is to Go seek legal advice. That's not stuff you want to take someones word at unless they have details and know the law well....... Consults are typically free
I wish you the best

If you own a home, you can do a reverse mortgage. You do not have to pay back the reverse mortgage and you can use the money as you wish. It reduces your inheritance, but the credit card debt will do that even more so.
Otherwise, the best thing you can do is to get part time jobs and pay off as much as you can each month and in fairly short order you will get out of debt. You can get greeting jobs at Walmart or grocery bagging jobs.
Take care,

Also, anyone know of a reputable (tried and true) debt relief assistance or debt counseling company?
Good Morning =)
Depending on your assets(house/car/bank accounts) you may be able to get all of your unsecured(credit card) debt discharged(forgiven) by filing chapter 7 bankruptcy.
Consumer Credit Counseling Service(MMI) helped my sister figure out that bankruptcy was her only option and MMI has been approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees to issue counseling certificates in compliance with the bankruptcy code(needed for court.)
They only charged a fifty dollar fee total to counsel her, give her the needed certification for court and also the follow up paperwork she had to have for her bills to be discharged.
To find out what your options are, call or fill out the form online by following the link below.
Best of Luck to you =)
yes and yes . . my husband has an s corp and when we first got married my credit score dropped cause I married his poor credit score. . now our credit score after 25 years in business is very high cause he pays his corp bills on time. .
there were no children. there are no child support issues, no alimony was awarded.
It can in some states, my neighbor just did it, his wife ran up credit card bills in excess of 56K in less than 9 months at the casino, they are divorced now for the past year or so and since she never worked he got 75% of the debt and all the cards were in her name not his, he just wiped out every last cent of it in bankruptcy court.

According to TransUnions Quarterly Credit Card Analysis, “...the average bankcard debt per borrower decreased to $5,434 in the fourth quarter of 2009"[1]. Wow, over $5,000 per consumer, these numbers are not encouraging. Even with a decrease, a husband and wife could easily owe over $10,000 (ten-thousand) dollars in unsecured credit card debt.
With all of the debt come feelings such as depression, anxiety, being overwhelmed, anger, aggression, and denial. What recourse does the average consumer have? Take a lesson from Debtors Anonymous and confront demons and causes of overspending.
Confronting your demonsIn this flailing economy, all of the odds seem to be stacked against consumers. They try not to make mistakes, but all too often end up borrowing money from their credit cards. The first step to recovery is to admit that there is a problem. Once there is an admission of guilt or a responsibility taken; consumers can start to rebuild their self-esteem, savings, self-respect, and also stop relying on their credit cards as a crutch that will eventually break them. How does a consumer start to rebuild their lives? The first step is to cut up their credit cards.
