a law office was hire by a back credit card company to collect a deit I own, I have talk to them several time and tried to explain my situation at this time, i recived a letter stating they were threating to make me sell my house to get there money, can they do this legally, and if so how can I counter act it.

I managed a finance company in Maryland, with a judgment even on unsecured debt a lien or sale on real property can take place. Most of the times a lien is placed so that when property is sold the debt is paid. Usually the reason this is done is because their is a mortgage that takes 1st priority. If a forced sale was done the credit card co would have to satisfy the 1st mortgage. I have seen the attempt to sell when there is no liens and it can be done. The debtor in this situation contacted his attorney and found out that the property could sold. So to prevent the sale, he paid the debt off. Keep in mind in most states judgments can be renewed.

Yes they will send solicitors letters then take you to court for the money- which will increase what you owe-if you genuinely cant pay you should be able to pay a certain amount each week aor month.
No-one likes to pay bills - but you got yourself into it-pay a little more each month and it comes down much much quicker

How to dig back out of credit card debt without ruining credit?

I have gotten myself in such a mess with credit cards I just want to beat my own a$$ and I need advice on how to work it out. I have racked up 1 card ($8300) 2nd card ($6000) and 3rd card ($2500) all maxed out. The payments are $250/$160 and $70 and I am making them but then the problem is that I am broke for the month so I use what I just paid on them and go to the grocery store to get groceries or go get gas and have to put it right back on the card. I AM SO SCREWED and I feel so stupid that I did it but I guess I proved to myself that I cannot be given a card with $8000 on it use it wisely, too late now though I just need to get back out of it. Please help!

Find a credit card that you can have for 12 months 0% interest and transfer your credit card balances to that card. Each month put away a portion into a savings account to earn some interest. Just make sure to have enough money in there to cover the balance after the 12 months is up. And quite buying things unless they are a necessity. Hopefully your credit has been ruined by this but paying off that 0% credit card may help to bring it up!

How to pay back credit card debt? need advice?
i went abroad to australia, and had to use my credit card while their, when i looked how to pay it back when i was in australia it said you could not pay back using international bank card,
anyway i left it at time and thought well i will need to wait until i get back to UK to sort something out,
im back in UK now, but on the statement that i owe them is 728pound, its not huge amount compared to others in debt i know, but it is for me right now as since getting back ive found it very difficult to get a job,and im also 27weeks pregnant, ive been back now for 8weeks and living with family at the moment but is not suitable when babies here, i need to start getting baby things soon,

what can i do about this, what is the minimum per week you can pay towards credit card debt, right now i actually could only tell them take out 5pound per month and nothing more, as i dont even have home yet or things for my baby,
i had a letter recently about if i dont pay it off in 1week then court, i want to know were i stand before calling them, as what i can do about this, can anyone give me any advise on how to go about this

Get ready for a bumpy ride of learning life lessons. When you casually plunked down that piece of plastic while taking a holiday abroad, you started accumulating debt that had to be paid back. In the US, credit card companies require a minimum payment of 2 or 3% per month. Not sure what UK card companies charge for minimum payments. I would guess 3 to 5% or about 25 to 38 pounds per month. Good luck to you and your new baby.

Well, this is the only type of debt relief which can reduce the total amount you need to pay back to the credit card company. I’m going to give you a few simple pointers on how you could effectively fight back against your creditors and eliminate credit card debt.

Follow the first simple rule. Lock that card in a safe place at home, and do not use it. The more you use, the more you need to pay back. These debts never take care of themselves; they are tangible and need to be repaid. Card companies thrive on customer payments. When you make delay your payments, your credit card company earns even more. The rate of interests rise and now the bill also includes a late fee. So you see how your bills are only going to grow?
